Coldplay fans make it their own
Coldplay has always embraced individuality, independence of thought, and artistic collaboration to deepen their music experiences. With the launch of their smash hit new album, Moon Music, the band has created a film, A Film For The Future, in partnership with over 150 artists, and is inviting fans to remix it with Microsoft.
Microsoft and Coldplay have created a way for people to interact with A Film For The Future’s ideas and imagery in their own way using the analysis of Azure AI and Copilot. Fans are asked to share their feelings and mood in the moment, to create a unique remix section edited to the track “iAMM”.
The creation of A Film For The Future
Coldplay’s idea for A Film For The Future stems from a conversation the band was having about scrolling through social media. They imagined all of the different visuals that might pop up while listening to their new album. Intrigued by the possibilities, they explored how to best create visual content for Moon Music that balanced their love for traditional music videos with the growing trend of short-form content. The idea was to just have fun with it, with no rules or guidelines, and since individuality and independence of thought are key to Coldplay’s philosophy, they wanted to collaborate with a wider, creative community.
To make the film, over 150 content creators, directors, and animators created a video clip based on individual 15-second song segments from Moon Music. The variety of styles and approaches to the film gave a rich tapestry for Microsoft AI to help analyze and reassemble the clips sensitively, ensuring the remix videos stayed true to the original vision of the creators as part of the ongoing community–led remix.
It’s like a rainbow of creativity, with each color representing a different style and vision.
