Voor die andere 7 vrouwen zullen sommigen die koude schok van een kankerschrik ervaren. Vroege opsporing kan de kans op overlijden aan borstkanker drastisch verminderen. Helaas is het zo dat van de 40 miljoen mammografieonderzoeken die elk jaar in de Verenigde Staten worden uitgevoerd, er bij de traditionele op leeftijd gebaseerde screenings 20 procent van de borstkankers over het hoofd wordt gezien volgens de American Cancer Society.
