Efter diagnosen har mange kun 2-5 \u00e5r tilbage sammen med deres venner og k\u00e6re. Familierne m\u00e5 l\u00e6re et nyt ordforr\u00e5d \u2013 sondeern\u00e6ring, hj\u00e6lpemidler, tab af stemmen \u2013 mens et andet, mere stille ur begynder at tikke i forskningslaboratorierne. De lange tidshorisonter i forskningen stemmer sj\u00e6ldent overens med den presserende situation i klinikken \u2013 og det er netop denne uoverensstemmelse, som <a href=\"https:\/\/www.answerals.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Answer ALS<\/a> har sat sig for at \u00e6ndre<\/p>\n<p>Answer ALS tog udgangspunkt i den enkle, men st\u00e6rke tanke, at mennesker med ALS er mere end blot patienter i systemet. De kan bidrage aktivt til fremskridt. N\u00e5r folk v\u00e6lger at dele deres data \u2013 sikkert, ansvarligt og til gavn for det f\u00e6lles bedste \u2013 kan det \u00e5bne op for en helt ny fremtid inden for forskningen.<\/p>\n<p>Answer ALS samler forskere, personer med ALS og talspersoner i et \u00e5bent, samarbejdsbaseret initiativ, der har til form\u00e5l at fremskynde udviklingen af behandlinger og helbredende midler. M\u00e5let er at give sikker adgang til detaljerede kliniske og biologiske data samt relaterede biologiske pr\u00f8ver, s\u00e5 forskerne kan identificere biologiske undergrupper, biomark\u00f8rer og behandlingsm\u00e6ssige m\u00e5l. Men historisk set har det ikke v\u00e6ret nok blot at have dataene til r\u00e5dighed; de skulle ogs\u00e5 deles p\u00e5 en m\u00e5de, der rent faktisk hjalp forskerne med at g\u00f8re hurtigere Det f\u00f8rste fors\u00f8g p\u00e5 at dele disse data \u2013 via en akademisk institution \u2013 var imidlertid aldrig t\u00e6nkt til at kunne skaleres.<\/p>\n<p>I praksis fungerede det mere som et simpelt filarkiv eller et sted, hvor alt var samlet \u2013 men ikke p\u00e5 en m\u00e5de, der var nem at finde rundt i. Selvom forskerne teknisk set kunne udv\u00e6lge bestemte patientgrupper, kr\u00e6vede det kendskab til kommandolinjen og et h\u00f8jt niveau af it-ekspertise. For mange grundforskere og klinikere var selv enkle sp\u00f8rgsm\u00e5l som \u2013 &#8220;Kan jeg isolere data om kvinder med ALS?&#8221; \u2013 sv\u00e6re at besvare uden betydelig teknisk support. Dette begr\u00e6nsede platformens evne til at muligg\u00f8re effektiv, selvbetjent s\u00f8gning.<\/p>\n<p>V\u00e6rre endnu var det, at arbejdsprocessen i al stilhed begr\u00e6nsede, hvem der kunne deltage.
